Very old 'news'
1 News item about the Evangelical Movement of Wales Annual Welsh Conference 1974 THE WELSH ANNUAL CONFERENCE THE 22nd Welsh Conference held at Aberystwyth this year was a remarkable and outstanding one chiefly for two reasons. First of all, it was a refreshing and heartwarming experience to see a much larger number of young people there than at any time previously - one almost thought one was in the English Conference! Also, in the opinion of many, the series of morning addresses given by the Rev. Sulwyn Jones of Dowlais on Nehemiah was one of the most challenging and prophetic of all the conference addresses since 1952. The addresses were prophetic in that one sensed that an authoritative word from the Lord for our present situation was being delivered. As in Nehemiah's day when they rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem, the call today is for God's people to rebuild the walls of the Church in our land. Firstly, the speaker stressed that one must have a vision born of prayer concerning what are the purposes of the Lord; then - and only then - there must be a full and untiring commitment to ‘the work’ which will, incidentally, banish all boredom for the rest of our days. We were reminded also of the Satanic opposition in various forms which must be expected whenever and wherever a true work of God is present, and on the last morning the nature of the reformation effected was delineated. A forcible and lucid exposition which at certain points clearly bore the impress of convictions born of personal experience.
