The whole of Scripture is about Christ. This text is a picture of a greater redemption. Ruth's loyalty is key to this redemption; it's because of her obedience that this family is saved. It is because of the Son's obedience to the Father that we are saved. Why should a young Moabite woman care about redeeming an Israelite family? Christ was not only obedient but also willing. He put aside the glory with which He was crowned in heaven in order to come in that humiliating way.
