We might expect there to be a welcome for Jesus in Nazareth, that they would claim Him as one of their own. There is more than just contempt here. They refer to Him as the son of Mary; probably meant as an insult. These people may not have seen His miracles but would have seen His life. Did they see nothing as He lived amongst them? We don't know if He ever went back. We are not given unlimited opportunities. Every day we awake is a day of grace.
