For Your Own Sake, O Lord
Daniel’s prayer involves confession as His sense of God determines his sense of sin. Daniel contrasts the people’s unfaithfulness with God’s covenant faithfulness. He cannot be anything other than faithful because this is His character and so it was right that the promised judgement came upon them, but He is faithful to every promise and to Him belong mercy and forgiveness. Daniel asks for mercy because He is concerned for God’s glory.
