Lord, Liar or Lunatic?
There are those in chapter 3 who are "in" - the disciples - contrasted with those who are "out". The latter want to take Jesus away from his mission; firstly his family and secondly the scribes. Both groups distract Him, and both groups give up, but they are different in their assessment of Jesus. His family conclude that He is out of His mind and the scribes that He is possessed by the devil. CS Lewis wrote that we cannot accept Him as merely a great moral teacher. Either He is what He said, or He is a lunatic or liar.
