How do we die well? It is to die declaring our faith, as Jacob did, wanting to be buried in Canaan, as he believed the promise. Will we declare our confidence that God will bring us to the heavenly country? It is to die confidence in Christ alone, as Jacob is confident of legal right to the cave. We have a right to enter heaven because the price has been paid and we are justified by Christ’s blood. It is to die dreaming of heaven, anticipating the glory to come. At the moment of death, Jacob is gathered to his people.
