The Bible progressively reveals how salvation came through Christ. Adam understood the promise but not the details. Here is an outline sketch. The rest of the Bible provides the colour. The picture tells us the consequence of sin is death. However, we don't read of the death of Adam and Eve but an animal. God provides a substitute. Our sin deserves death but there is One who came in the place of sinners to be a substitute.
