The prophecy here is so detailed that it’s clear to see its fulfilment in history. The decrees of God are fulfilled; all of this detail could not have come to pass unless He is in control. He works all things, down to the tiniest detail, according to His sovereign purposes, and the people of God do not need to be afraid. These kings were significant in their day, but who remembers them today? We too will be forgotten, so what is the point of living for our own greatness? Resting in God liberates us from trying to prove our own greatness!
