The Merest of Breaths
People throughout history seem to have recognised that time hasn't been conquered; it evades us. Man is like a breath. This is the theme of Ecclesiastes: all is vanity (the sense of the word is a breath). The older we get, the more aware we are of the passing of time. We can't control it or keep it. Things come our way that we can't control. The last verse of the book shows that what matters is to fear God and live for His glory.
