Sin is punished; it has consequences. It's not just that we reap what we sow. God Himself punishes sin. There are two types of people in the world: the descendants of the serpent and those of the woman. There is conflict between the two. Believers face opposition and persecution. To be a friend of the world is to be an enemy of God.
