Pharaoh is impressed with Jacob’s age. Jacob is 130 but says his years have been few. His ancestors lived longer, and perhaps he was conscious of wasted years. Do we live for ourselves or for the Lord’s service? Jacob also said his days had been evil. Life is hard, but it makes all the difference if God has intervened. We are just passing through. There is a hint of trouble to come, but also the promise of a certain future.
