After Adam and Eve's rebellion, God asks the first question ever asked on earth: where are they? He knows where they are. He doesn't want to know Adam's geographical location, but his condition. What is the new nature of their condition? What is our relationship with God like now? Adam is afraid and so would we be. He is aware of his condition and sews pathetic fig leaves. All our religion is but fig leaves and our righteousness as filthy rags. Adam remains hiding in the bushes as some still are, not wanting to give things up, but if we gain Christ we gain everything.
