This prophecy seems to refer to things relatively near to Daniel. A word will go out, as Daniel had read in Jeremiah that the exiles will return to Jerusalem, and an anointed one will come and be cut off. Here is Christ, the Messiah, cut off for the sins of His people. This was always God's plan. The Christian today must keep labouring like Daniel did. God uses His enemies' actions for His purposes.
