Isaiah prophesied about 100 years before the Babylonian exile. No doubt the people in exile would fear, and for good reason. However, God would be with them and bring them back. The reasons for this comfort, despite what they deserve, are that God formed them, redeemed them, and called them by name. This nation will not be lost, because they belong to the living God. The same is true of Christians and the church.
